The Battle of Big Cypress Bayou never happened...But in 1864 it almost did. A powerful trading port, Jefferson, Texas served as a staging ground and supply depot for the confederacy. Join historical re-enactors from around the country as they battle for control of the Baghdad of the Bayou, Jefferson, Texas.
Constructed and used by the confederacy throughout the civil war, the last serving free standing confederate powder magazine, serves as your gateway to the battle field. During reconstruction, various units from the Union Army took over this magazine and the nearby pasture. Be sure to stop by to see the relics found on the property in just the past few months by Jefferson local Tom Moss. (Open to the public)
This year's battle will take place along side the Big Cypress Bayou on Total Farm.
Each battle will be unique as veteran battle field commander, Gary Stephens from the Trans Mississippi Volunteer Infantry (TMVI) works to bring units of artillery, infantry and cavalry together in a fight for control of Baghdad of the Bayou!
